About the WSC Press
WSC Press was established in 2004. The press is directed by editors JV Brummels, Lisa Sandlin, and Eddie Elfers. Housed within the School of Arts and Humanities, it was the brainchild of former graduate student, Chris Brandon, and made a reality by the current Dean of Arts and Humanities, Dr. James F. O’Donnell.
The WSC Press is off to a great start. Its first book, Words Like Rain: A Celebration of Poetry at Wayne State College, is in its second printing. As of February of 2007, the Press has published eight books by undergraduate students, well-known authors like the Nebraska State Poet William Kloefkorn, and artists such as Carlos Frey. Since 2004, the Press has maintained the ongoing publication of The Judas Goat and Hot Papers. The Judas Goat, a compilation of the student creative writing, and Hot Papers, a collection of student scholarly writing, are published annually.
The mission of the WSC Press is to celebrate the culture and finest contemporary literature of the Northern Plains, to publish the best of student writing, to involve students in all aspects of editing and publishing, to produce books for and about the classroom.
