Wayne State is holding two opportunities in 2014-2015 for your students to shine! February 6, 2015 is the annual WSC Honor Choir Festival, and April 11, 2015 is the third annual Show/Jazz Choir Festival. Both events are held on the Wayne State College Campus in Peterson Fine Arts.
The Honor Choir Festival is directed by Dr. Danielle Warner, director of choral activities at Wayne State College, and the Show/Jazz Choir Festival is directed by Dr. Adam Webb, professor of voice.
The cost of the 2015 WSC Honor Choir is $9.00 per singer. This fee covers the cost of the meal for the singers and a director or sponsor (minimum of four singers for the director’s/sponsor’s lunch to be covered). Since it will help us maintain balance of parts, if you can nominate two tenors, you need pay no registration fee for the second. Two basses, no registration fee for the second. Bring an extra tenor and/or bass, up to six singers can participate for the cost of four! Parents or others coming that day to observe are welcome, and can purchase their meal as they go through the cafeteria line if they wish to make use of the WSC food service for lunch. The music to be performed is listed on the enclosed schedule. Although sectional rehearsals are indicated, your students will have a better experience that day if some time is spent looking at the music before they arrive. The day will commence with a joint concert with the WSC Concert Choir and 2015 WSC Honor Choir at 4 p.m. in Ramsey Theater. Admission is free. Registration and payment are due by January 2, 2015.
The 2015 WSC Show Choir Festival has a competitive and non-competitive element and will feature a performance of the 2014-2015 Wayne State College Black and Gold Show Choir before the awards ceremony at 7:00pm Saturday evening. This festival is for both middle and high school ensembles. The entry fee for middle schools is $75 per ensemble, and $95 for high schools for each ensemble entered. This is a perfect opportunity to prepare for the Nebraska State Festival as well as providing a positive festival opportunity for smaller schools! Ratings and comments will be provided, as well as trophies for category winners (Large Ensembles/Small and Medium Ensembles) as well as outstanding soloist, outstanding concept design, outstanding choreography, and outstanding group vocals. All participating ensembles will receive a trophy to commemorate their participation in the day’s events. Admission is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children under 12 years. Registration and payment are due by February 6, 2015.
