Tracie Amend
Spanish
Tracie Amend is delighted to join the Language and Literature Department as a visiting professor for the 2009-10 year. Although she grew up in Wyoming and Colorado, she has had the opportunity to study in several different Spanish departments throughout the country, including the University of Wyoming, the University of Nevada, Reno, and the University of Kansas. Throughout her academic career she has been able to teach numerous Spanish language courses, as well as the occasional course on western history and literature. Along with her life-long interest in humanities, Tracie loves to watch and participate in the performing arts. She especially enjoys singing in choral groups and acting in musical theater.
Tracie received her PhD from the University of Kansas as a specialist in the literature (and specifically, theater) of Spain. She hopes to expand upon the research that she developed in her dissertation entitled “The Adulteress in Spanish Tragedy (1830-1930)”. Future topics of research include the examination of the use of history in tragedy and homosocial relationships on the Spanish stage.
