Sofia Villarreal
Sofia Villarreal holds a Ph.D. in Spanish from Pennsylvania State University, and previously earned a Masters degree from the Colombian Institute Caro y Cuervo, known for its studies in literature and indigenous languages from Latin America. Villarreal has published several articles regarding comparative literature, including Greek literature and philosophy, and has published poetry and short narrative. Her scholarly interests cover a range of topics including literary theory, contemporary Latin American narrative and culture, gender, and film studies. Her current research focuses on contemporary short novels from Latin America, and she continues developing creative writing in short narrative and poetry. Villarreal enjoys being actively involved in advising, committee work, and campus life.
