Ronald Lofgren
Director of Choral Activities, Madrigals, Concert Choir, Vocal Music Education

 

Ronald LofgrenDr. Ronald Lofgren earned the B.A. in Music Education from Bethany College (Lindsborg, Kansas), a Master of Music in Choral Conducting and a Master of Sacred Music from Southern Methodist University (Dallas, Texas), and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Kansas (Lawrence). While studying at SMU he also played for the Dallas Cowboys for three seasons, including playing in Superbowls XII and XIII.

 

Dr. Lofgren is a lyric tenor who has appeared in or directed over twenty-five musical theatre productions, including You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown, Pippin, Sweeney Todd, 1776, Godspell, South Pacific, Annie Get Your Gun, Carousel, Damn Yankees, and Guys and Dolls. He has sung the tenor role in Orff's Carmina Burana twice, and has given numerous recitals.

 

He taught music in the Kansas public schools for over six years at all grade levels from fifth grade beginning band through high school band and chorus. Prior to becoming director of choral activities at Wayne State College he taught at Saint Mary of the Plains College (Dodge City, KS), William Penn University (Oskaloosa, IA), and Southwestern Michigan College (Dowagiac, MI). At Wayne State he directs the Choir and Madrigal Singers in addition to teaching private voice, secondary vocal methods, and choral conducting.
