Dr. LeAnne Foust Regan
Voice
LeAnne Foust Ragan, Interim Instructor in Voice and Vocal Music Education, is a native of Forrest City, Arkansas and grew up singing in her church. She began vocal studies under Rev. Doug Turner and continued her studies, while in high school, with Mrs. Gloria Borell. LeAnne graduated from Arkansas State University in 1990 with a BME in Vocal Music. While at ASU LeAnne was president of Sigma Alpha Iota. She taught in the Forrest City School system for two years before moving to Iowa to continue her musical education. LeAnne began attending the University of Iowa in the fall of 1994 to get her MA and completed her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy in 2003. While at Iowa, LeAnne studied voice under Stephen Swanson and was coached by Darlene Lawrence, Richard Boldery, Beaumont Glass and John Muriello. She has been a featured soloist with the Omaha Chamber Singers, the University of Iowa Choirs and Symphony as well as a Young Artist on a Simon Estes recital. LeAnne has performed in various opera roles including “Sister Angelica” in Suor Angelica and “Lady Billows” in Albert Herring. While at the University of Iowa she also directed a one act opera, “The Proposal.” Dr. Foust Ragan taught as Adjunct Voice Instructor at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for seven years. During her tenure there, Dr. Foust Ragan directed a Kirkwood Community College production of “Into the Woods,” performed as a soloist with the Kirkwood Chorale and was guest conductor of the Kirkwood Chorale. Dr. Foust Ragan is very excited to begin her first semester at Wayne State College this fall.
