CHRISTOPHER BONDS is Professor of Music at Wayne State College. A violinist, he was Concertmaster of the Sioux City Symphony, located in Sioux City, Iowa, from 1982 to 2004. A native of Arizona, he attended Arizona State University, where he studied violin with Eugene Lombardi, and composition with Grant Fletcher. He received his Ph.D. from The University of Iowa, where he studied composition with Robert Shallenberg and Richard Hervig, and conducting with James Dixon. He has also studied chamber music performance with the Philadelphia String Quartet, and conducting with David Becker, Robert Culver, and William LaRue Jones.
Dr. Bonds currently teaches music theory and strings at Wayne State, and has performed widely as a violinist in the region. He has been a guest conductor of the University of South Dakota Symphony, and of the South Dakota All-State Orchestra. He is the author of The Musical Impulse, a music appreciation text, as well as numerous encyclopedia articles. Dr. Bonds has lived in Wayne, Nebraska with his wife, Debi, since 1982.
