Frequently Asked Questions
Like many colleges, we frequently are asked common questions
by our prospective and current students. On this page we have
tried to identify some of those and have provided our responses.
How do I change my major?
You can begin the process by picking up a "Change of Major/Minor" form in our office or in the appropriate School/Department Office. The next stop is a visit with your advisor to discuss the change. Depending on the nature of the change you are making you may need to also get a signature from the academic department whose major/minor you are adding. The completed form is then returned to our office. Depending on the change you make to your degree program, you may be required to change to the current catalog.
How do I get a degree check
Degree audits are available via a student's WildcatsOnline account under other academics, Academic Requirements.
How do I get my student
To receive a student loan deferment you must be enrolled at
least half time (at least six hours each in the fall & spring semesters and a total of six hours for all summer course
work). Our office now contracts with the National Student Clearinghouse for electronic processing of loan deferments.
If your lender sends you a deferment form, just bring that
form to us as soon as you receive it and we will have it processed.
Please be sure you have filled out the required personal information
and signed the form before giving it to us for processing.
Do I have a right to privacy
& what does it mean?
Federal law allows us to release "Directory Information" without written permission of the student. See the FERPA link to the left.
Any Wayne State student who wishes to have Directory Information protected can do so through their WildcatsOnline Student Center, Personal Information, Privacy Settings, or by submitting written notification to the Records & Registration Office.
How do I apply for my teaching
Teaching certification is handled through the School of Education and Counseling at Wayne State College. Their office is located
in the Brandenburg Education Building. The phone number is (402) 375-7577.
How do I apply for Veteran's
Wayne State College courses are approved by the Nebraska State
Department for veteran's benefits. Contact Lynette Lentz,
in Hahn 116, for the appropriate VA forms. WSC follows the
American Council on Education recommendation for granting
credit for military training. We prefer that you submit an
AARTS transcript when requestiing such credit. Four hours of physical education general education and general elective credit will be granted to you
if you present us with a copy of your DD214, verifying active
duty basic training.

How do I get my grades?
Mid-term low grades and final grades are available in WildcatsOnline Student Center, click on other academics, then on grades and then the Go button. Only mid-term grades of C- and below are reported (an NR grade means No Report); a mid-term low grade report letter is mailed to the student and advisor. Final grades are not mailed; they are due from the instructors within five days after the end of the semester.
How do I change my name and address?
In the event of a name change there is not an option to make that change online yourself. You must present a copy to the Records & Registration Office of one document (driver’s license, certified marriage license, certified divorce decree, or court order) that proves the establishment of a new name. We will make a copy of the original document if you are in our office in person. We will also accept a fax to (402)375-7047 or a scan of the document e-mailed to email@example.com. If faxing a driver’s license please enlarge and lighten before faxing. We will not accept an unclear image so we suggest enlarging 200% for clarity.
You can change a local address in WildcatsOnline by going to your Student Center under Personal Information and clicking on the Current/Local Address link. Phone numbers and personal e-mails can be changed as well. To change your permanent address, contact the Records & Registration Office in person in Hahn 116, or by phone at (402)375-7239, or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
How do I allow a parent or guardian access to my student record?
You can grant guest access to different modules in WildcatsOnline to as many as five different people as a way to share financial and academic information. See instructions by logging into eCampus>eCampus Content>Guest Account Access.
