New Studio Benefit Students
KWSC Radio and TV stand out among college radio stations due to their studios in a new, recently remodeled student media complex on the fourth floor of the Wayne State Humanities Building.
Most college broadcasting stations across the country suffer from residing in old, outdated, and dingy studio space. The KWSC studios, by contrast, occupy bright, modern studios in a student media complex that also includes The Wayne Stater newsroom.
KWSC-FM has a dedicated on-air control room with PC-based automation system, two production rooms including digital audio workstations, The Associated Press wire service, and a music library of at least 2,500 CDs. The transmitter remains at its former location at the Fine Arts building, connected to the studio by fiber optic cables.
KWSC-TV has a new TV studio with adjacent control room, and an editing suite with 2 digital video work stations. TV programming is offered on channel 24 on Huntel Cablevision in Wayne and on the WSC campus cable systems.)
Tom Schmitz’ engineering office is also part of the complex, as is a classroom with computer projection and Internet capability.
The envy of many campus broadcasting operations, the KWSC studios provide a professional and pleasant environment that is a significant benefit to teaching and learning.
