Carrigg Film Selected for DVD

"Flag Day" (2005) a film by Maureen Carrigg and Kristy Higby was chosen by W.W. Norton for inclusion on a DVD for distribution with several Norton Sociology textbooks.

The DVD will be included with following textbooks, Introduction to Sociology and Essentials of Sociology by Anthony Giddens, Mitchell Duneier and Richard Appelbaum, The Real World: An Introduction to Sociology by Kerry Ferris and Jill Stein, You May Ask Yourself: An Introduction to Sociology by Dalton Conley, both due to publish in 2008.

"The Norton Sociology DVD will contain approximately 22 short clips (4 to 7 minutes each) on important sociology concepts," said Carrigg. "'Flag Day" is a short documentary that tells the story of how an average man calls attention to the war's victims and the slim coverage by the media by planting a 'garden' of flags to represent each fallen US soldier."

The DVD is expected to be distributed with textbooks published for the first time in 2007 and 2008.
