Nordstrand Gallery to Feature Work of Artist Terri McGaffin Published: 10-29-2010 3:25 pm Wayne State College's Nordstrand Gallery will feature an exhibit of figurative paintings by Terri Parish McGaffin Nov. 1-19. The paintings interpret the human form in action and interaction.
"We see the human form in art in a different way," McGaffin said. "We connect with art for many reasons, but the human form brings connections that are intimate, reflective and narrative." Some of the paintings are visual responses to the action of the stage. Many reflect the nature of photographic images of interaction.
McGaffin, an associate professor of art at Morningside College, teaches studio art and writing courses. She has worked as a professional artist for many years, and has most recently exhibited at the University of South Dakota in the group show Painted Women. Her work is in the collections of the Sioux City Art Center, Morningside College and the University of South Dakota, as well as many private collections.
There will be a reception for the artist from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Nov. 1 in the Nordstrand Gallery in the Conn Library on the Wayne State campus.
