Wayne State College will host Family Day during the weekend of Sept. 19-20. The two-day event will feature a movie, trivia contest, brunch, WSC football and soccer games, and other activities.

The Office of Residence Life invites younger siblings to spend the night or the weekend on campus with their older brother or sister on Sept. 19 and 20. Activities are planned from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 20.

Wayne State College students and their younger siblings will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of age-appropriate activities throughout the weekend, including the WSC recreation facilities, games and crafts.

The movie “Muppets Most Wanted’’ will be shown at 7 p.m. Sept. 19 in the Student Center Frey Suite, with trivia competition in the lower food court of the Student Center at 9 p.m. The Rec Center will be open until 8 p.m. Students will be responsible for hosting and supervising their sibling(s). Wayne State students should see their Resident Assistant (RA) for more information and to sign up for Little Siblings Weekend.

Guests are welcome to take advantage of hospitality service including coffee, juice and muffins in the Student Center Atrium from 9 to 11:15 a.m. Sept. 20. The day’s activities include a Balloon Brigade, an academic open house, planetarium shows, pop art projects, brunch, WSC football and soccer games, and a Kids Zone with inflatables at the football stadium end zone.

Special tours of the Planetarium will be given at 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. in the Carhart Science Building. All shows include a brief tour of the current night sky and the fall constellation song. All shows are free and tickets are available at the Student Center information desk atrium level.

Family Day Brunch will be served in the student cafeteria of the Student Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The brunch menu will include omelets, scrambled eggs, French toast, roast beef, spaghetti with marinara or meat sauce, chicken breast with wild rice, mashed potatoes, broccoli, corn, soup, salad bar, dessert bar and a display cooking oriental bar. Meal prices are $7.25 per adult and 90˘ per year for children up to 7 years old.

Wildcat fans will gather for a tailgate party at the south end zone of the football field from noon to 1 p.m. (Recreation Center if weather is inclement). Adults will be charged $8 per person and fans younger than 12 will be charged $5.

The Wayne State College football team will face MSU Moorhead at 1 p.m., with halftime entertainment by the Wildcat Marching Band, flag corps and yell squad. Tickets are available at the stadium for $10 for adult general admission and $5 for children in K-12th grade. Seniors age 62 and older will be admitted for $8.

The WSC soccer team will host Winona State at 11 a.m. Admission is free for soccer matches.
