The Wayne State College Department of Music is hosting a WSC Department of Music Alumni Day on Saturday, Feb. 22.
Alumni of any Wayne State College music ensemble are encouraged to register for the opportunity to reminisce with music friends and faculty through the WSC Alumni Chorus and WSC Alumni Band. The event will feature two former WSC ensemble conductors, Dr. Cornell Runestad and Dr. Gary Davis.
Runestad is the recipient of the Nebraska Choral Directors Association Lifetime Achievement Award, and Davis is a long-time director of the University of Nebraska-Kearney band and recipient of the NSBA Outstanding Bandmaster Award.
Socials and rehearsals will be held throughout the day, and alumni will have the opportunity to work with Dr. Elise Hepworth, director of concert choir, and Dr. David Bohnert, director of bands. A performance by the WSC Concert Choir and Wind Ensemble will take place in Ramsey Theatre at 4 p.m., with performances by the WSC Alumni Band and Chorus at 4:30 p.m. The event will conclude with a 5 p.m. reception in the Peterson Fine Arts Atrium.
Cost for participation in the event is $20, which covers the cost of music and snacks for the day. The registration deadline is Feb. 1
