Wayne State College to Host Family Day Sept. 13-14

Wayne State College will host Family Day on Sept. 14. The Office of Residence Life invites younger siblings to spend the night or the weekend on campus with their older brother or sister.
Wayne State College students and their younger siblings will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of age-appropriate activities throughout the weekend, including the WSC recreation facilities, games, crafts and a showing of the movie "Monsters University" at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13. The Rec Center will be open until 8 p.m. on Friday.
Younger sibling guests may stay overnight Sept. 13-14 in their older brother's or sister's residence hall room. Students will be responsible for hosting and supervising their sibling(s). Wayne State students should see their Resident Assistant (RA) for more information and to sign up for Little Siblings Weekend.
Guests are welcome to take advantage of hospitality service including coffee, juice and muffins in the Student Center Atrium from 9 to 11:15 a.m. Saturday. Families may pick up a campus map and information about the day's activities.
Activities on Saturday include Balloon and Henna Tattoo Artists, an academic open house, planetarium shows, pop art projects, brunch, and a Kids Zone at the football stadium. WSC football will face University of Mary at 1 p.m.
Other Saturday Activities
An open house will be hosted in academic buildings and residence halls from 9 a.m. to noon. The Wayne State College Bookstore will be open in the atrium of the Student Center from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A special tour of the Fred Dale Planetarium and an astronomy showing will be given at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. in the Carhart Science Building.
Family Day Brunch will be served in the student dining area of the Student Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The brunch menu will include omelets, scrambled eggs, French toast, roast beef, spaghetti with marinara or meat sauce, chicken breast with wild rice, mashed potatoes, broccoli, corn, soup, salad bar, dessert bar and a display cooking oriental bar. Meal prices are $7 per person and for children 90¢ per year (up to 7 years old).
Wildcat fans will gather for a tailgate party at the south end zone of the football field from noon to 1 p.m. (Recreation Center if weather is inclement). Adults will be charged $8 per person and fans younger than 12 will be charged $5.
Tickets for the football game are available at the stadium for a price of $10 for adult general admission and $5 for children in K-12th grade.
