Wayne State College Students To Present 'Kiss Me Kate' Musical

Published: 3-15-2013 1:15 pm

Wayne State College students will present Kiss Me Kate at 7:30 p.m. March 21 and 22 and at 3 and 7:30 p.m. March 23 in Ramsey Theatre. Kiss Me Kate was written by Sam and Bella Spewack with music and lyrics by Cole Porter.

This musical combines the humorous re-telling of Shakespeare's classic Taming of the Shrew with a behind-the-scenes look at the actors who are presenting Shrew at a small-time professional theater in Baltimore in 1948. When things go wrong behind the scenes, will the actors be able to hold the show together onstage?

This 18-member cast has joined together from across disciplines at WSC, including graphic design, accounting, and early childhood education majors, as well as students from the music and theater departments. The cast is lead by junior Amy Stump as Katherine, and sophomore Mike Carraher as Petruchio.

Tickets for Kiss Me Kate are open seating and can be purchased at the door; no prior reservations can be made. Tickets are free for Wayne State College students, faculty, and staff, $8 for adults, and $5 for students.
