Bob Kerrey, candidate for the United States Senate, will visit Wayne State College for a town hall forum from 3 to 4 p.m., with media availability from 4 to 4:30 p.m., Oct. 24. The event will be held in the Gardner Auditorium in Gardner Hall. WSC Professors Joe Blankenau and Mark Leeper will moderate the question-and-answer session.
A Nebraska business owner, Navy SEAL, former Governor and former two-term United States Senator, Kerrey has a record of service to our state and nation.
“When Bob Kerrey served in the Senate, he quickly gained a reputation as a maverick and leader, working across party lines to turn a budget deficit into a surplus, and reforming the nation's crop insurance system, among many other accomplishments,” according to his campaign.
Born in 1943 in Bryan Memorial Hospital, Kerrey was raised in Lincoln and studied pharmacy at the University of Nebraska. In 1966, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and went on to volunteer for the elite Navy SEAL teams, earning the Medal of Honor and Bronze Star for bravery in combat operations in Vietnam.
