WAYNE, Neb. (April 7, 2011) - The Wayne State College SHAPE Club will host the Wellness Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 20 in the Student Center Atrium. There is no admission charge.
"The wellness fair provides numerous opportunities not only for the students on campus but the community members as well," said SHAPE Club President Ben Doolittle. "It allows community members to see what Wayne and surrounding towns have to offer with health and wellness. Students will also benefit by learning what these organizations have to offer and making connections that could help them in health related fields."
"Our goal is to reach as many people with health and wellness information as we possibly can. We hope to motivate people to lead a healthy lifestyle and change their old unhealthy habits," said Kris Hinnerichs, assistant professor in the Health, Human Performance and Sport department at WSC. "This includes being physically active, practicing healthy habits, and being a smart and nutritious consumer. It requires positive decisions to improve the quality of life and overall well-being. This is a wonderful opportunity for the campus and community to come together with the common goal of improving the quality of lives in a fun and educational setting."
These events are made possible through a WSC Service-Learning grant.
