WSC Newscenter | Wayne State Students to Perform 'Little Shop of Horrors' March 24-27

WAYNE, Neb. - Wayne State College students will perform "Little Shop of Horrors" at 7:30 p.m. March 24-26 and 2 p.m. March 27 in Ramsey Theatre. The musical comedy will feature an orchestra.

In the musical, a down-and out skid row floral assistant discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. Soon the exotic plant grows into an ill-tempered rhythm and blues singing carnivore who offers fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite.

Dr. Gwen Jensen, a professor at Wayne State College, will direct the production. Other Wayne State production team members include: Carrie Chapman, technical director and scenic designer; Dr. Ronald Lofgren, vocal director; Dr. David Bohnert, orchestra conductor; Phillip Pfaltzgraff, rehearsal accompanist; Justin Pommier, stage manager; Mechelle Poessnecker, assistant stage manager; Dr. Melissa Derechailo, venue technician; and Lesley Gangwish, box office manager. Kevin Earlywine, a University of South Dakota undergraduate in musical theatre, is guest choreographer.

Tickets will be $7 for adults, $5 for students older than 12; or $3 for children 12 and younger; WSC students, staff and faculty admitted free with their college identification cards.

No reservations will be taken. Groups of more than 25 may call ahead for special rates to (402) 375-7422.

The box office will open 60 minutes before curtain on performance days. The House opens 30 minutes before curtain time.
