Christensen and Pfaltzgraff to Perform in Piano Recital
WAYNE, Neb. (Feb. 10, 2010) -- Linda Christensen, professor of piano and music technology, and Philip Pfaltzgraff, staff accompanist, will perform in a piano recital at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 16 in Ley Theatre.
Christensen will perform Fantasie-Impromptu by Frederic Chopin (1810-1849), Romanze in F# by Robert Schumann (1810-1856) and Root Beer Rag by William Martin Joel ("Billy Joel") (1949- ).
Pfaltzgraff will perform work written by H. Leslie Adams (1932- ), an African-American composer from Cleveland. Pfaltzgraff's portion will be "Music by African American Composers" in recognition of "African-American History Month."
He will perform 14 Etudes from "26 Etudes for Solo Piano" by Adams. Adams is the recipient of honors and awards from the National Association of Negro Women, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Cleveland Foundation and the Jennings Foundation, among others.
