Students to Exhibit Performance Pieces on Dec. 17

"A Machine Orchestra" will be exhibited in the Black Box Theater at 5 p.m. Dec. 17. Freshman design students will exhibit this collaboration for their final ART 101 Design project. Students teamed up to create nine collaborative three-dimensional assemblage/performance pieces designed to produce sound.
 
In the end, the projects will have been built from 95-percent salvaged, found, recycled materials, including a wide range of machines and household appliances. The project is part of a collaboration with the University of Kansas Design Foundations Program that will be presented at the Foundations in Art: Theory and Education Conference this spring in Portland, Ore.
