Faculty Recital on Nov. 11, Symphonic Band on Nov. 18
Dr. David Bohnert, Wayne State College associate professor of music and director of bands, will present a faculty recital at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 11 in Ramsey Theatre. The recital will feature works for trumpet and voice, trumpet and tuba, and trumpet and piano.
Dr. Linda Christensen, chair of the Wayne State Music Department, will be performing works by Ravel and Chopin for solo piano. Dr. Elise Gutshall, soprano and professor of voice at Wayne State College, will join Bohnert to perform four Arias for Trumpet and Soprano by Alessandro Scarlatti, followed by a performance of the Concertino in E-flat by Ernst Sachse with Phil Pfaltzgraff, Wayne State accompanist. Joshua Calkin will join the group for the Frankenpohl Sonata for Trumpet, Tuba, and Piano. The recital will conclude with Manhattan by Philip Sparke with Dr. Linda Christensen.
The Wayne State Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will perform traditional and contemporary concert band music at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 18 in Ramsey Theatre. The concert will feature four student conductors who will be making their conducting debut. The Symphonic Band will be conducted by Joshua Calkin and the Wind Ensemble will be conducted by Dr. David Bohnert.
