Family Day - September 20, 2008
Hospitality - Student Center Atrium, 9 -11:15 a.m.
Coffee, juice and muffins will be served, compliments of Student Services. Guests may pick up a campus map and information about the day's activities and the College.
Open House - Academic Buildings & Residence Halls, 9 a.m. - Noon
All academic buildings and residence halls will be open for visitation during the day. Take time out to see your son's or daughter's "home away from home" while you are on campus.
Campus Tour of Rooms - Residence Halls, 10 a.m. - Noon
The Office of Residence Life invites you to take a tour of the best-decorated residence hall rooms on campus. Prior to Family Day, a campus-wide competition will be held to select the most creative, functional and uniquely decorated student residence hall rooms. The winning rooms will be on display from 10 a.m. to noon. A Tour of Rooms flier, indicating the location of the winning rooms, will be available at the Family Day Check-In, Student Center Atrium.
Wayne State Bookstore, 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
The Wayne State College Bookstore will be open during these hours for your convenience in shopping. Stop and check out the in-store specials. The Bookstore is located in the atrium of the Student Center.
STEP - Student Center Atrium
Two performances will be given by STEP (Successful, Talented, Educated Performers). Show times - 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
Planetarium - Carhart Science
Special tour of the Planetarium and a showing of the night sky at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. in the Carhart Science building.
Roving Entertainment - featuring Dave Evans
Dave Evans is a balloon artist and a magician. One of the fastest balloon artists, Dave creates some of the world's hippest balloons and also performs a roving magic show. Dave will be roaming the Wayne State campus in a lime green zoot suit while entertaining all ages. 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Family Day Brunch - Student Center Cafeteria - A delicious menu for our Family Day guests has been planned in the Student Dining Room of the Student Center. 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Tailgate Party - Join other Wildcat fans for a tailgate party at the south end zone (Recreation Center if weather is inclement). $5 per person. Noon-1 p.m.
Football Game - WSC vs MSU Mankato 1 p.m. Memorial Stadium/Cunningham Field
Enjoy collegiate football and be entertained by the Wildcat Marching Band, Flag Corps and Yell Squad. Tickets are available at the stadium. General Admission $8; $10 Reserved; and Children $5.
Little Siblings Weekend
The Office of Residence Life
(402-375-7318) invites younger siblings to spend the night or the weekend on campus with their older brother or sister. A variety of age-appropriate activities will be sponsored throughout the weekend (WSC pool and recreation facilities, movies, games, crafts, etc.) for the student and younger siblings(s) to enjoy. Siblings will be able to stay overnight on Friday and/or Saturday (Sept. 19 & 20) in their older brother's or sister's residence hall room. WSC students will be responsible for hosting and supervising their sibling(s). Wayne State students should see their Resident Assistant (RA) for more information and to sign up for Little Siblings Weekend. Friday the Rec Center will be open until 9 p.m. - the pool will be open from 7 to 9 p.m.
