Programs & Activities - Brown Bag Series ARCHIVE
In honor of Black History month, a group of Sudanese women from Omaha will portray St. Bakhita’s life and provide insight into the history of the people of Sudan. The Sudanese women have a story to tell. St. Bakhita was a slave that humbly addressed her situation and took on the church and the world. When freedom became an option for her she chose not to return to Sudan but to stay and serve the church. She is best known for her forgiving ways. The Sudanese women of today are asked the question, each day: “Can you forgive?”. Forgiveness is one thing; while forgetting is another. Come hear the tales and stories that Sudanese women face as a result of their past and present situations.
Support for this speaker is provided in part by the WSC Student Activities Board Allocation to the Catholic Newman Center.
