Dorothy Weber, Director of the Learning Center came to WSC as a part-time learning skills specialist in 1986. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She was named director of the Learning Center in 1991. Programs developed include the following: Succeeding in College, a reading and study skills class that about half the freshmen class elects to take; Choosing Academic Success, a one credit class for probationary students; additional one credit courses in Vocabulary Development, and Speed Reading. Dorothy coordinates the nationally certified Peer Tutor Program, Early Alert program, Myers-Briggs workshops, PPST preparation sessions and ESL classes.
