Network Notices | WSC Network Account Password Policy Change

If your current password does not meet the common requirements listed below, you will be allowed to login once after the policy goes into effect, but your password will be automatically expired and you will be forced to create a new password.

If your current password meets the new policy requirements then you will not be forced to change your password on the day the policy goes into effect. You may change your password to one that meets the new requirements at ANY time by going to “eCampus Content/Change Password” once you are logged into eCampus.

Network and Technology Services strongly recommends that you change your password now to meet the requirements for the new policy.

Common Requirements for EVERYONE

· Passwords must contain characters from three of the following four categories:

      o English uppercase characters (A through Z)
      o English lowercase characters (a through z)
      o Numeric digits (0 through 9)
      o Non-alphanumeric characters (for example, !, $, #, %)

· Passwords must be 8 or more characters

· Passwords may not be one of the last 5 passwords used

· Passwords may not contain the user's account name or parts of the user's full name that exceed two consecutive characters.

Password expiration times:

· Students, applicants and alumni: None – passwords never expire

· Faculty/Staff: Passwords must be changed every 180 days. Passwords cannot be changed more frequently than once/day.

· Staff with enhanced PeopleSoft/SAP access: Passwords must be changed every 60 days. Passwords cannot be changed more frequently than once/day.

Policy implementation dates:

· Academic support staff: April 2nd

· Administrative staff: April 9th

· Business and Technology students, faculty and staff: April 16th

· Education and Counseling students, faculty and staff: April 17th

· Arts and Humanities students, faculty and staff: April 18th

· Natural and Social Science students, faculty and staff: April 19th

· Undeclared and other students: April 20th

· Applicants and Alumni: April 23rd
