Network downtime status

Well folks all in all we had a very productive and positive morning. The
data copy from our original storage unit to the new storage unit finished up
about 8:30AM and we were able to take down all of the servers and start working
on the original storage unit. We performed the initial repairs without data
loss and the system is no longer in critical state. We still have a number of
things to do on the system, but we should be able to do that transparently with
servers up so at this point all systems are back online and ready for use.
We were able to keep www, eCampus and Sakai running throughout the downtime
by migrating them from one storage unit to the other, so we'll have a brief
period of downtime, probably late this evening, for those systems as we migrate
them back. Other than that we should be good to go.
Just a fun fact: in the process of preparing for this, we copied
approximately 24 Terabytes of data. Each byte essentially stores one character
of information. If each byte was a penny and we stacked the pennies, the
stack would reach the moon....and come back.....53 times.
Thanks for your patience as we worked through this and our apologies for
