"IRS e-mail scam"
posted 1-28-09
Greetings,
This is important identity theft information.
Over the past few days there have been several public service radio stations announcing that there are a number of e-mail scams surfacing that are really identity theft attempts. The most prevalent of these has been related to the IRS soliciting personal information via e-mail. In reality, the IRS knows almost about each of us as we know about ourselves and they are stating that they will never seek personal information via e-mail notices.
Just a few moments ago Scott McLaughlin shared this e-mail notice he received on our campus e-mail system from what appears to the IRS. Clearly this is a scam and should be deleted. Scott, thank you for sharing.
