Paying Your Bills - Payment Policy

Payment Information

Students become obligated and agree to pay all academic charges when they register for each term. Charges including tuition, fees, room, meal plans, and all other fees that may be assessed are due on or before the sixth day of the term (2 nd day of each summer term) . Charges are subject to refund only to the extent allowed under Wayne State College’s Tuition Refund Policy. Wayne State College requires all students to sign a payment agreement. The terms of this agreement remain in effect as long as the student is enrolled, whether it is continuously or periodically, full time or part time. Students are responsible for payment of all costs incurred (including collection costs if applicable) even if this form is not endorsed by the student.

Nelnet (formerly FACTS) Payment Plan

Students may pay in installments by signing up for the various options under the Nelnet (FACTS) payment plan. If the Nelnet (FACTS) payment plan is terminated for any reason, the account balance is due Wayne State College immediately. Please check e-cashier for information on this plan.

Third Party Billing

Wayne State College also accepts payments from outside sources that have formally agreed to pay tuition and fees for an eligible student. These organizations include, but are not limited to the Veterans Administration, Vocational Rehabilitation, National Guard, and Americorp. Contact Business Services for more information.

Statements of Account

Wayne State College Business Services will send notification to students that a Statement of Account is available on WebCat. Electronic notification will be sent on the 10 th of each month as long as the student has an account balance due. The Statement of Account will itemize the student’s financial obligation to Wayne State College including tuition, fees, and other charges that may occur from time to time. The Statement of Account will also list any credits due the student for the current semester, such as for financial aid or payments received. Except as otherwise agreed under applicable payment plans, payment is due on or before the 6 th day of the term (2 nd day of each summer term) . With the exception of those students on a Nelnet (FACTS) payment plan or third party billing, a late fee of 2% of the unpaid balance will be applied to all accounts not paid in full by the due date.

STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYMENT WHETHER OR NOT THEY ACCESS THEIR STATEMENT OF ACCOUNT ON WEBCAT. IF A PAPER BILL IS REQUIRED IT MAY BE PRINTED FROM WEBCAT.

Financial Aid and Third Party Billing

EACH STUDENT REMAINS RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYMENT OF ALL CHARGES BY THE SPECIFIED DUE DATE IF THE FINANCIAL AID AND/OR THIRD PARTY PROCESS HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETED. Wayne State College may assist students in completing the required documents, but the student is ultimately responsible to ensure that all documentation requirements and deadlines are met.

Delinquent Accounts

If a student has not paid in full by the due date, signed up for the Nelnet (FACTS) payment plan, or made other acceptable arrangements, a non-payment fee will be assessed to the student’s account. In addition, an enrollment cancellation notice will be sent. The student’s enrollment cancellation will include cancelling the student’s registration, preventing the student from attending or registering for classes, placing a hold on the student’s transcripts and diploma, removing the student from on-campus housing and/or meal plans, assigning the account to a collection agency and possible legal action to collect any balance due. Wayne State College will charge late fees of 2% of the unpaid balance on delinquent accounts.

Educational benefits are exempt from discharge under bankruptcy unless "undue hardship" as established under The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005 can be proven. In other words, in most cases tuition and institutional receivables will not be dischargeable by bankruptcy.

ALL BUSINESS SERVICES COMMUNICATION WILL BE THROUGH THE STUDENT’S WSC eCAMPUS ACCOUNT.

PLEASE BE SURE TO UPDATE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION IN WEBCAT. IF THE INFORMATION IS NOT CURRENT IT MAY CAUSE A DELAY IN RECEIVING YOUR REFUND.
