Program To Curb Irresponsible Drinking On And Off Campus Posted: 24 August, 2011
WAYNE(KTCH/KCTY)-- With the return of college students to campus officials at Wayne State College and Northeast Community College in Norfolk are focusing on the problem of irresponsible drinking on and off campus. The two colleges jointly announced the We Agree Campaign on Tuesday. The campaign focuses on students curbing destructive drinking behavior with an emphasis on out of control neighborhood house parties. Wayne State College President Curt Frye says binge drinking by students is a big concern and they are making every effort to educate students on the dangers of such behavior. Representatives from both the Wayne Police Department and the Norfolk Police Division were also on hand for the event describing the legal consequences of out of control house parties and underage drinking. Norfolk Police Chief Bill Mizner said that alcohol violations by young people in Norfolk are a big concern. The Campaign is being funded by a grant from the Nebraska Collegiate Consortium to Reduce High-Risk Drinking.
