  • National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Activities, see handout
  • Webinars:
    Alcohol & Athletes: A Scientific Look at the Impact of Alcohol Use on an Athlete: 21 people attended; 5 were athletes, most were from Kris Hinnerichs classes. Kathy will also be taking the presentation to the football team after the season.

    Underage Drinking in Native American Communities
    Thursday, December 14, 2006 2:00 - 3:15 p.m.; Res. Life Office
    Underage drinking is a pervasive problem within many Native American communities and is attributable to a host of health, social, and economic problems that negatively impact the well being of the culture. Learn how Native American communities within various states are taking a stand to prevent underage drinking within the tribal community, foster “wellbriety”, and promote a culture free of alcohol use/abuse

  • Nebraska Collegiate Consortium (NCC) to Reduce High Risk Drinking-
    • Web Survey-the Human Subjects Institutional Review Board approved the application; initial e-mails were sent out on 10/31/06, follow-up e-mails will be sent to students around 11/6/2006.
    • The week of Dec. 5, UNL is hosting another workshop to discuss how to best use the results
  • *Wayne Rotary Club Methamphetamine information night, see
    Handouts; a large number of athletes attended the 3 hour long event

  Neighborhood Relations: No report


  Policy and Enforcement: Next Wildcat Wheels Safe Ride meeting is 11/28/2006

   at 4:00 p.m. in the Counseling Center.

  • now using 3 cabs every night
  • less than 5 minute wait time
  • 6,729 passengers served since February 2005.
    Halloween: 70 calls; 206 passengers, third best night on record
  • Alcohol Industry Sponsorship Policy: Norfolk Beverage offered to bring a Driving Under the Influence prevention speaker to WSC, see attachment

  • Student Center kiosk address
    at the end of the site all you need to do is put the month and day (example October 24, 2006 is 20061024; if you hit “F11” it will make full screen and then hit it again to go back to regular size; this information will be included in the next update of the “So what is there to do at Wayne State?” brochure
