August 31, 2006
Present: Jessica Bolles, Lin Brummels, Cynthia Hruby, Jason
Karsky, Kathy Mohlfeld, Jason Mrsny
Committee/Workgroup Updates:
Education and Information Report:
- e-CHUG posters have been posted across campus and ads
will run every other week in The Stater
- The Counseling Center is offering Alcohol and Drug Education
classes October 10 and November 28 in the Student Center
for $75.00.
- Alcohol Poisoning Prevention program given to Residence
Life by Kathy Mohlfeld
- Core Alcohol and Drug Survey results power point presentation
- Nebraska Collegiate Consortium (NCC) to Reduce High
Risk Drinking-public colleges and universities
- Logic Model and Planning, two day team workshop
: September 12-13, 2006 presented by the Higher Education
Center; Curt Frye, Kathy Mohlfeld, Jason Mrsny and
Sr. Cynthia Hruby will be attending
- The College Alcohol Personality Survey-receive
by e-mail, please fill out and return at TRUST
Coalition meeting next week; plan to use the results
at the Lincoln workshop and for the Biennial Review
report
- Nebraska State Conference, November 2006, Proposed
web based alcohol survey of Nebraska students in Fall
2006.
Neighborhood Relations:
No report.
Policy and Enforcement:
- Next Wildcat Wheels Safe Ride meeting is 9/26/2006 at
4:00 p.m. in the Counseling Center.
- Wildcat Wheels, 8/24/2006
- 74 calls
- 161 passengers
- ½ hour wait time
- Considering adding 3rd cab, looking into funding
- The Wayne Stater ran 2 articles about Wildcat Wheels
so far this semester, see handouts.
- Liquor Control Commission voted to ignore state law
and allow Flavored Alcoholic Beverages (FAB’s)/alcopops
(Smirnoff Ice, Skyy Blue, Mike’s Hard Lemonade,
etc.) to be taxed as beer ($ .31 per gallon) and not distilled
spirits ($3.75 per gallon). They can also be distributed
to beer (1,535) locations instead of distilled spirits
(718) locations.
Social Environment:
- Those wanting to participate in this committee, please
contact Lin Brummels for more information at 375-7557,
or stop by SC 103.
- In process of getting Counseling Center work study student
to do the “So What is There To Do?” flyer
- Kathy Mohlfeld attended the National Conference on the
Social Norms Approach in Denver, CO at the end of July
via a Professional Staff/Foundation Grant.

Room - Oct. 5, Nov. 2 & 30, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. in the
Student Activities Room
