Toward Responsible Use of Substances Today
(TRUST) Coalition Agenda
March 17, 2005
Present: Dan Baddorf, Lin Brummels, Kathy Mohlfeld, Jason
Mrsny, Troy Reynolds, Ron Vick.
LB 592-this the Dram Shop and Social Host Liability proposal
introduced by Senator Kruse and 13 other senators. The bill
would provide for civil liability for retailers and other
adults who would provide alcohol to a minor or visibly intoxicated
person who later causes harm to a third party. Nebraska
is one of 18 states that do not have some form of social
host liability. See attached Project Extra Mile Op-Ed piece.
Committee/Workgroup Updates:
- Education and Information Report: Next meeting is
3-31-05 at 8:30 a.m.

- Policy and Enforcement: Next Safe Ride meeting
is 3/23/2005 at 4:00 p.m.
in the Counseling Center.
- Wildcat Wheels is off to a good start. Lacey
Schwochow and Anne Willis are the primary volunteer
dispatchers; Checker Cab of Norfolk provides transportation.
110 riders the first month; average of 6.9 riders/hour
2 cabs will run tonight (St. Pat’s Night)
and finals week.
- We plan to request a $0.25/credit hour increase
of the Student Activity Fee from the Board of
Trustees in June to fund the Wildcat Wheels Safe
Ride program. Information

- “What’s Going On?” is distributed
across campus and the current
events are on the website
Next meeting is Thursday, April 21, 2005 at 3:30 p.m. in
the Goldenrod Room of the Student Center.
