Toward Responsible Use of Substances Today
(TRUST) Coalition Minutes
Thursday, January 27, 2005 at 3:30 p.m., Goldenrod Room
Present: Lin Brummels, Jeff Carstens, Rick Haase, Cynthia
Hruby, Amber Johnson, Dustin Jones, Jason Karsky, Kathy
Mohlfeld, Jon Pitts, Troy Reynolds, Ron Vick.
Lin Brummels and Kathy Mohlfeld submitted a grant application
to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
(SAMHSA) to get funding for the TRUST Coalition and
to expand screening and intervention services in the
Counseling Center.
"Tie One On For The Holidays” collected over
500 pledges to not drink and drive last semester
Committee/Workgroup Updates:
Education and Information Report:
the next meeting is Thursday, February 3 at 8:15 a.m.

Sister Cynthia read the minutes of the last committee
meeting.
- Myth vs. reality trivia questions/quizzes regarding
WSC social norms will be given on Steak Night at Chartwells
on February 16. Students will be rewarded for participating.
- Jeff Myer will be leading the NCAA CHAMPS/Life
Skills program that will be starting in the Athletic
Department, see attached. He is also the new advisor
for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Policy and Enforcement: Contact Jason
Mrsny at 375-7216 or Jason Karsky at 375-7139 for more
information. Safe Ride meetings will be Wednesdays at
4:00 p.m. in the Counseling Center.
Wildcat Wheels: A Safe Ride Program 375-7591 and
375-7590
- Thursdays from 10:00 p.m.-2:00 a.m.; Feb. 10, 17,
24 and March 3, 17, 24 and 31 (more could be added)
- Checker Cab of Norfolk
- WPD won’t ticket if they are notified car
is left on street and using the cab
- Student ID required, may bring 3 guests
- Goal: Deter driving under the influence, sexual
assaults, aggravated assaults, thefts and other indiscretions
Lacey Schwochow and Anne Willis will be the volunteer
dispatchers.
- Policies being drafted see attached.
- Wallet cards are being printed and will be distributed
across town and to the police department.
- A possible avenue for future funding would be an
increase in Student Fees.
- Officer Haase indicated that the Fraternal Order
of Police might be able to contribute some funding
to the program.

- “What’s Going On?” sheet put out
regularly and is on the website.
- A counter was added to the website in December
2004 to measure the number of hits.
