SAVE Coalition meeting minutes November 15, 2004

In Attendance: MaryAnn Brown, Kathy Fink, Connie Bargstadt, Kavin Black, Lin Brummels, Kathy Mohlfeld, Ron Vick, Jeff Carstens, Michelle Meyer

Minutes of the October meeting were approved as read

Introductions were made as we had a guest from CALCASA the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault, Kavin Black our Training and technical assistant is on campus today and Tuesday.  Kavin provided a overview of CALCASA and his work in the field and as a trainer and TA for the campus grantees.

Old Business:

Discussion of the status of the Relationship Violence and Sexual Misconduct Policy, no action has happened since Lin and Michelles meeting with Dr. Collings in October and the submission of the revisions he requested.

The “Take a Walk in My Shoes “ project was discussed this is an interactive museum planned by residence Life to highlight the oppression experienced by many groups in our society. The SAVE program is involved in the space devoted to women’s experiences. The dates and times for this event are November 30 – Dec. 2 with the times still being set, they will include hours in day from 11- 2pm and evening hours.

 

Information was also provided on V-day the preparation for the theatrical production by Eve Ensler of “The Vagina Monologues” the campus campaign will be coming to WSC in February (24, 25 and 26).

New Business:

Jeff Carstens and Michelle Meyer shared information and impressions from the recently attended Institute in Chicago.

 

Discussin was generated on the RFP for the Campus grant renewal what directions could we go what could we do better or continue to do in the next grant cycle.

 

Kathy Fink reported that Haven House is creating a Newsletter to commemorate its 25 years of service to the Wayne community and surrounding area.

 

Announcement was made of Kavins Monday evening presentation. Men’s Involvement: Enhance your Ability to be a Leader, Mentor and Friend in Gardner Hall Auditorium @ 7:30 pm.

There will be no meeting in December our next meeting will be on January 17, 2005 at 2pm in the Student Activities room.
