SAVE Coalition Meeting Minutes - April 19, 2004
In attendance: Jamie Paulson, Lin Brummels, Brook Jech,
Jason Mrsny, Samantha Wolfe, Karen Granberg, Ron Vick,
Jeff Carstens, Connie Bargstadt, Kathy Mohlfeld.
Minutes from the March meeting were read and approved as
read.
New business item discussed:
Peer Education Class - NCAA funding did not come through,
Lin put in request for alternative funding through the institution.
If funding can't be obtained a series of trainings will
be provided for interested students throughout the semester.
RAD Class - Jason discussed the status of the RAD program
on campus, basically in a holding pattern till Dr Collins
arrives. Saving RAD for Women may mean getting certified
and offering RAD for Men.
CALCASA Teleconference on Title IX - April 27,2004 from
1:00 -2:30 P.M.
Many question still surround the requirements and how our
institution is and will comply in the future. In addition
a series of three stalking teleconferences are being offered
on April 19th and 27th.
Fall Orientation - Goal is to combine education and entertainment
and shorten day a little. Possible presenters are being
considered including Todd Denny, Mike Domtriz, and Brett
Sokolow . SAVE will help with funding. It is hoped that
whichever presenter is chosen that within their package,
we could receive an additional training or education presentation
directed at a specific campus group.
June CALCASA Institute in Minneapolis June 23rd and 24th
. They are recommending that someone from judicial board
administration attend this institute. We will make adjustments
in the four persons sent to fulfill this request.
Michelle gave three education presentations in various
classes on campus this month
Dorms - address getting into dorms more effectively. During
RA training do presentation for RA's as it would be done
in dorms or on floors. Next fall the goal is to be more
structured and effective in reaching this population.
Sexual Assault Awareness Month - Update on activities this
month so far and those yet to come.
Police Training - has been scheduled for Monday may
17 th, 2004 from 1:00 to 5:00P.M. in the Elkhorn Room.
Kristen Houser will provide the training.
Policy revisions are progressing, another meeting will
be set for the AD hoc committee before the semester is over.
Brook Jech reported that all the legislation concerning
issues related to DV and SA were approved prior to the legislative
session ending this week.
Campus grantees are still waiting to receive word that
we can begin submitting the progress reports on line for
the July'03-Dec. '03 reporting period.
Next meeting - There will be no SAVE Coalition meeting
in May we will meet in June to begin preparation for the
fall semester, Notice will be sent out on the specific date,
time and place of our next meeting.
