WELCOME to Alcohol 101 - an alcohol education program in
the form of an interactive CD ROM. It combines music, interactive
scenes, and information in a manner that makes learning
about alcohol and its consequences fun.
The program was developed by the University of Illinois
at Urbana-Champaign in conjunction with the Century Council.
It has been brought to Wayne State College via the Counseling
Center to give our students needed information outside the
normal lectures, inservices, etc. that students usually
participate in.
Within the CD is a virtual bar where you can drink all
you want - without suffering the consequences - and learn
your limitations. There are questions and answers concerning
alcohol and its effects, and "interactive scenes"
in which you can choose the outcome - right or wrong. Unlike
life, if you make a wrong choice you can back up and do
the right thing and no one suffers.
Currently the CD is being used in selected classes
and the Counseling Center staff is available for presentations.
It is available to students in the computer lab between
the Counseling Center and Career Services. You can check
out a CD from the Counseling Center and go through the
program on an individual basis. Click on one of the
links in the menu on the left for a sample of information
from the CD.
