With great pleasure, the PRIDE Student Organization invites you to attend the PRIDE Lecture Series with Dr. Ron Holt during Homecoming Week, 9/28 – 10/2. Dr. Holt, a graduate of Wayne State College, is an attending psychiatrist in the Department of Psychiatry at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in South San Francisco, California. This will be Ron’s 10th year attending Homecoming Week at his alma mater and speaking on the issues of civil rights and the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender community. All of his time, expertise, and travel costs are paid for by Ron as a way of giving back to Wayne State College and the community.

• “Dr. Ron Holt was a very effective presenter. There could not have been a more perfect person to speak about homosexuality…he was able to speak about when he knew he was gay, growing up gay, going to college, coming out to his parents, his personal experiences, the specific biological aspects of homosexuality, how people deal with their own sexuality and the sexuality of others from a psychiatric perspective, and the various laws that affect gays.”
  
  

• “Coming from a small town I have heard so much about gay people and when Dr. Holt talked to us I realized that none of that stuff was true.”
  
  

• “I like the fact that he cares enough to give back to Wayne State College.”
  
  

• ”On the outside I am open to homosexuals and their beliefs, but on the inside it is still hard for me to overcome the fact that someone is gay….Hopefully I will be able to overcome these shortcomings and be able to fully accept all people.”
