2006: Ran a season-best 27:03 at the Univ. of South Dakota Open on 9-2-06 to finish fourth. . . Also finished fourth at the Briar Cliff Invite on 10-7-06 with a time of 27:19 to earn NSIC Runner of the Week honors. . . Ran a personal best time of 34:35 (10K) at the WSC Pre-Regional on 9-30-06. . . Placed 21st at the NSIC Championships in St. Paul, Minn., on 10-21-06 and was not able to compete at the North Central Regional because of an injury.

2005: Finished second at the NSIC Championships on 10-22-05 to earn All-NSIC honors for second straight season. Helped Wildcats win first-ever NSIC team championship. Ran season-best time of 26:23 to place fourth at Briar Cliff Invite on 10-8-05. Also placed fourth at the WSC Fall Alumni Invite on 10-1-05. Selected to the 2005 NSIC Fall All-Academic Team.

2004: Earned NSIC All-Conference honors with third place finish at NSIC Championships in Wayne with time of 27:39 on 8,000-meter course. Ran season-best time of 26:32 at Mount Marty Invitational on 10-16-04 to receive NSIC Athlete of the Week honors. Named WSC Freshman Male Athlete of the Year at season-ending WSC Athletic Banquet.

High School: Three year state track qualifier and two year state cross country qualifier at Nebraska City High School. Earned several All-Conference and All-Academic honors in track and cross country.

Personal: Son of Roy and Holly Schneider.....Born on October 17, 1985.....majoring in graphic design/education.

Former WSC pitcher Nick Schumacher was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 28th round Friday afternoon in the 2008 MLB First-Year Player Draft. The Nebraska City native was the 855th overall pick and it marks the second straight year a WSC pitcher was taken in the MLB Draft.


The WSC baseball team was ranked 24th in the final NCAA Division II Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top 30 Coaches Poll released on June 2. The 40-13 Wildcats won the NSIC regular season title for a fifth straight season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth consecutive year and sixth time in the last eight years.


Wayne State's Nick Schumacher was selected to a pair of All-American Teams Tuesday afternoon, earning First Team honors from Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association and Third Team All-American honors from Daktronics and voted on by sports information directors across the country. Schumacher posted a 13-2 record this season with a 2.36 ERA to earn 2008 NSIC Pitcher of the Year honors.
