Jon Misfeldt is in his sixth season as the head women's
golf coach at Wayne State College. He is also in his seventh
season as head softball coach for the Wildcats, and serves
as the athletic department's equipment coordinator. Under
Misfeldt's guidance in 2005, WSC posted a school-record team
scoring average of 374.8, an improvement of two strokes over
last season. The Wildcats also posted their best-ever team
score at the NSIC Championships, shooting a three-day total
of 1120 to finish in fourth place.
Misfeldt came to Wayne State in 1998 and served as the assistant
women's volleyball coach for the Wildcats.
Misfeldt's softball experience comes from playing for an ASA
team for 18 years. A second baseman, Misfeldt's team qualified
for five national tournaments, won five state titles and two
regional titles.
A native of Arlington, Neb., Misfeldt earned a bachelor's
degree in broadcasting from the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
For nine years, Misfeldt worked at the Columbus Telegram newspaper
and was the sports editor for seven years. He earned his master's
degree from Wayne State in sports management in 2003.
Misfeldt's wife, Jane, is a school teacher at Columbus Scotus
High School.
