2006-07: Played in all 29 games with four starts for Wildcats during junior season, averaging career-highs of 7.6 points and 3.3 rebounds per game....ranked fourth in NSIC in blocked shots per game (0.93) and was 10th in free throw percentage (.777)...led WSC in blocked shots with 27...scored career-high 20 points vs. Bemidji State on 12-1-06...played season-high 33 minutes vs. Northern State on 12-7-06 and grabbed season-high eight rebounds vs. Wolves...Named to the NSIC Winter All-Academic Team.

2005-06: Appeared in all 31 games for WSC at backup center, averaging 4.1 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. Scored season-high 13 points vs. Upper Iowa on 1-24-06. Grabbed season-high six rebounds in four different games. Played season-high 21 minutes vs. Augustana on 12-1-05. Also scored 10 points in game at Upper Iowa on 12-6-05.

2004-05: Played in all 31 games as backup center for Wildcats. Averaged 5.2 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. Scored career-high 18 points vs. Grand View College on 12-6-04. Named Nebraska Division II Player of the Week on 12-20-04 after making clutch free throws in 55-50 OT win over Findlay (Ohio) at the Hoop-N-Surf Classic. Was 6 of 6 at the line and scored 10 points and hauled in nine rebounds (career-high) in the win.

High School
: A graduate of Cedar Rapids Xavier High School. Was a three-year letter winner. Was selected 1st Team All-State as a junior and senior. Was selected 1st Team All-Conference as a junior and senior. Was named the Class 3A MVP and All-Tournament Team Captain. Led Team to a State Championship. Letter in softball and was named 3rd Team All-State.

Personal: Daughter of Jim and Vickie Covington....born on April 29, 1986.....majoring in physical therapy.

Wayne State has earned the #3 seed for the NCAA Div. II Central Regional Baseball Tournament hosted by Emporia State in Kansas. The 40-11 Wildcats meet #4 seed Central Missouri (41-15) in Thursday's first round with game times to be announced Monday afternoon.


Concordia-St. Paul topped #15 Wayne State 10-6 Sunday afternoon in the NSIC Baseball Tournament championship game. The 40-11 Wildcats await word from the NCAA on a at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Official pairings are to be released Sunday evening by the NCAA.


Nate Preston won three events to lead the WSC men to a third straight NSIC outdoor track and field championship Saturday in Wayne. The Wildcats scored 164 points to nip second place Mary (156.5) for the team title. Brett Suckstorf won two events (hammer throw and discus) for WSC.


The WSC women's track and field team finished in third place with 106 points at the NSIC Championships in Wayne. Katie Wilson won two events (hammer throw and discus) and took second in the shot put to lead the Wildcats.


The NSIC Office announced Saturday that the NSIC Baseball Tournament has been shortened to a single-elimination tournament with Wayne State and Concordia-St. Paul (the last two undefeated teams in the tournament) playing Sunday at 1 p.m. in Wayne and the winner earning the NSIC Tournament Title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.


Nick Schumacher struck out a career-high 14 batters in a complete game win to lead #15 Wayne State to a 9-1 victory over Southwest Minnesota State at the NSIC Baseball Tournament in Wayne. The 40-10 Wildcats will play in the winner's bracket final Saturday at 10 a.m. against either Bemidji State or Concordia-St. Paul.


Seven WSC baseball players were named to the 2008 NSIC All-Conference Baseball Team announced Thursday afternoon. Nick Schumacher was named the NSIC Pitcher of the Year, Marc Manganaro earned the NSIC Co-Player of the Year while Nick Bidroski was selected the NSIC Co-Freshmen of the Year.
