#2 Meredy Dubbs 5-8, Junior, Outside Hitter Wood River, Neb. (Wood River HS) 2006: Appeared in 38 matches including 20 starts and played in 134 games as outside hitter and defensive specialist. . . Second on the team with 432 digs, averaging 3.22 digs per game. . . Also had 135 kills, 45 set assists, 45 total blocks and 18 service aces. . . Had a season-high 26 digs on 8-25-06 against Rockhurst. . . Posted 20 or more digs in 4 matches during the spring including 10 or more in 22 matches. Named to the 2006 NSIC Fall All-Academic Team.

High School: Selected Second Team All-State in Class C-1 and received the Kearney Hub Volleyball Player of the Year award as a senior. Was also a three-sport standout at Wood River High School, excelling in volleyball, basketball and track. Helped her team to 31-1 record during her senior season and a berth in the Class C-1 State Volleyball Tournament. Set single season and career school records in kills and digs. Concordia-St. Paul topped #15 Wayne State 10-6 Sunday afternoon in the NSIC Baseball Tournament championship game. The 40-11 Wildcats await word from the NCAA on a at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Official pairings are to be released Sunday evening by the NCAA.
Nate Preston won three events to lead the WSC men to a third straight NSIC outdoor track and field championship Saturday in Wayne. The Wildcats scored 164 points to nip second place Mary (156.5) for the team title. Brett Suckstorf won two events (hammer throw and discus) for WSC.
The WSC women's track and field team finished in third place with 106 points at the NSIC Championships in Wayne. Katie Wilson won two events (hammer throw and discus) and took second in the shot put to lead the Wildcats.
The NSIC Office announced Saturday that the NSIC Baseball Tournament has been shortened to a single-elimination tournament with Wayne State and Concordia-St. Paul (the last two undefeated teams in the tournament) playing Sunday at 1 p.m. in Wayne and the winner earning the NSIC Tournament Title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Nick Schumacher struck out a career-high 14 batters in a complete game win to lead #15 Wayne State to a 9-1 victory over Southwest Minnesota State at the NSIC Baseball Tournament in Wayne. The 40-10 Wildcats will play in the winner's bracket final Saturday at 10 a.m. against either Bemidji State or Concordia-St. Paul.
Seven WSC baseball players were named to the 2008 NSIC All-Conference Baseball Team announced Thursday afternoon. Nick Schumacher was named the NSIC Pitcher of the Year, Marc Manganaro earned the NSIC Co-Player of the Year while Nick Bidroski was selected the NSIC Co-Freshmen of the Year.
