2007 Outdoor: Capped stellar career at Wayne State with seventh place finish at NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships in Charlotte, North Carolina, clearing career-best 5' 8 3/4" (new school record)...finished second at NSIC Championships after clearing 5' 5 3/4"....reached NCAA Division II nationals with provisionaly qualifying marks of 5'8" at Wildcat Classic (4-16-07) and University of Nebraska Open (4-29-07)...awarded NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship of $7,500 from the NCAA on May 2, one of just 29 female student-athletes from Division I, II and III schools to receive the prestigious honor...selected WSC Female Athlete of the Year and named to the NSIC Spring All-Academic Team for a third consecutive year.

2007 Indoor: Earned NCAA Division II All-American honors with seventh place finish at national championships March 9-10 in Boston, Mass...Walford cleared new school record 5'8" in final collegiate indoor meet to earn All-American accolades...won NSIC indoor high jump with top mark of 5' 7 1/4", marking third time she captured NSIC indoor title in the event...selected NSIC Women's Field Athlete of the Week on 1/17/07 after placing third at UNL Holiday Inn Invitational against mainly Division I competitors...named to the NSIC Winter All-Academic Team for the third straight season.

2006 Outdoor: Won the high jump at the NSIC Championships, clearing 5' 4 1/4"....qualified for the NCAA Div. II National Championships after clearing 5' 7" at the Division II Challenge in Emporia, Kansas on 4-15-06.......cleared 5' 3 1/4" at the NCAA Division II National Track and Field Championships on 5-27-06 to finish in a tie for 16th place..... selected to the NSIC All-Academic for the second straight season.

2006 Indoor: Repeated as high jump champion at NSIC Indoor Championships, clearing 5' 4 1/4". Qualified for NCAA Indoor Nationals for third straight season, placing 11th with top mark of 5' 5 1/4". Tied school record with season-best mark of 5' 7 1/4" at the Wildcat Open on 2-11-06. Named to the NSIC Winter All-Academic Team.

2005 Outdoor: Tied for second at the NSIC Championships in the high jump, clearing 5' 5 3/4". Also ran leg on fifth place 3200 meter relay team. Won the high jump at the WSC Triangular Meet on 4-2-05 with season-best mark of 5' 6 1/2". Also selected to the NSIC All-Academic Team.

2005 Indoor: NCAA National Qualifier, finishing 12th at the NCAA Meet (5'3"). Won the NSIC Indoor High Jump by clearing 5' 7 1/4", setting a new WSC school record. Named the NSIC Female Field Athlete of the Year. Won the high jump at five indoor meets and finished second at four others. Selected to the NSIC All-Academic Team.

2004 Outdoor: Finished third in high jump at the NSIC Championships, clearing 5' 3 1/4" to earn NSIC honorable mention honors. Competed in several meets in the 100 hurdles.

2004 Indoor: NCAA National Qualifier in the high jump, placing 11th by clearing 5'3". Set new WSC indoor school record by clearing 5'7" at first indoor meet at USD on 12-11-03. Scored points in three events at the NSIC Indoor Championships in Wayne, placing fifth in the high jump (5' 3 1/4"), sixth in the pentathlon (2856 pts) and seventh in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 9.13 seconds.

High School: Graduate of York High School......academic all-state selection in cross country, basketball and track and field.....two year state qualifier in track and field, competing in hurdles and high jump.

Personal: Daughter of Trevor and Marla Hansen.....Born on Sept. 26, 1984.....majoring in biology.

Wayne State has earned the #3 seed for the NCAA Div. II Central Regional Baseball Tournament hosted by Emporia State in Kansas. The 40-11 Wildcats meet #4 seed Central Missouri (41-15) in Thursday's first round with game times to be announced Monday afternoon.


Concordia-St. Paul topped #15 Wayne State 10-6 Sunday afternoon in the NSIC Baseball Tournament championship game. The 40-11 Wildcats await word from the NCAA on a at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Official pairings are to be released Sunday evening by the NCAA.


Nate Preston won three events to lead the WSC men to a third straight NSIC outdoor track and field championship Saturday in Wayne. The Wildcats scored 164 points to nip second place Mary (156.5) for the team title. Brett Suckstorf won two events (hammer throw and discus) for WSC.


The WSC women's track and field team finished in third place with 106 points at the NSIC Championships in Wayne. Katie Wilson won two events (hammer throw and discus) and took second in the shot put to lead the Wildcats.


The NSIC Office announced Saturday that the NSIC Baseball Tournament has been shortened to a single-elimination tournament with Wayne State and Concordia-St. Paul (the last two undefeated teams in the tournament) playing Sunday at 1 p.m. in Wayne and the winner earning the NSIC Tournament Title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.


Nick Schumacher struck out a career-high 14 batters in a complete game win to lead #15 Wayne State to a 9-1 victory over Southwest Minnesota State at the NSIC Baseball Tournament in Wayne. The 40-10 Wildcats will play in the winner's bracket final Saturday at 10 a.m. against either Bemidji State or Concordia-St. Paul.


Seven WSC baseball players were named to the 2008 NSIC All-Conference Baseball Team announced Thursday afternoon. Nick Schumacher was named the NSIC Pitcher of the Year, Marc Manganaro earned the NSIC Co-Player of the Year while Nick Bidroski was selected the NSIC Co-Freshmen of the Year.
