2007 Outdoor: Ran a season best and provisional national qualifying time of 9:25.13, placing second at the Howard Wood Relays on 5-5-07...won the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Morningside Open (9:31.19) setting a new meet record and earning NSIC Track Athlete of the Week Honors 4-4-07...also won the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Wildcat Classic (10:28.70), Sioux City Relays (9:26.27) and at the University of Nebraska Open (9:43.2)...named to the NSIC Spring All-Academic Team for the second year.

2007 Indoor: At the NSIC Championships, earned All-Conference honors by winning the one mile run (4:21.10)...also placed third in the 1,000 meter run (2:36.96) and ran anchor leg on the conference champion distance medley relay team...ran leg on 4 x 800 meter relay team (7:56.29) that set new school record at Wildcat Open on 2-10-07.

2006 Outdoor: Won the 3,000 meter steeplechase (9:52.43) at the NSIC Championships......also placed fourth in the 10,000 meter run (34:19.16), fourth in the 1,500 meter run (4:18.92) and fifth in the 5,000 meter run (16:14.18)......set two new school records during the season, running 3:59.61 in the 1,500 meter run at the Morningside Open on 4-1-06 and a 9:14.82 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Division II Challenge on 4-15-06 to qualify for the NCAA Div. II National Meet....finished 15th out of 17 competitors at the NCAA Division II National Track and Field Championships on 5-25-06 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with time of 9:52.23.......named NSIC Men's Track Athlete of the Week on 4-25-06.....also selected to the NSIC Spring All-Academic Team.

2006 Indoor: NSIC Indoor Champion in the 1,000-meter run (2:37.11). Also ran leg on first place distance medley relay team (10:22.86) and placed fourth in the 5,000-meter run (15:51.76). Ran leg on school-record distance medley relay team that ran 10:05.29 at the Prairie Wolf Open on 2-17-06. Selected to the NSIC Winter All-Academic Team.

2005 Outdoor: Set new school record by winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NSIC Outdoor Championships with time of 9:36.9. Also earned NSIC honorable mention honors in two events, running leg on second place 3200 meter relay team (8:04.20) and taking third in the 1,500-meter run at 4:11.33. Named NSIC Men's Track Athlete of the Week on 4-26-05 after taking fourth in 1,500-meter run at Kansas Relays and fourth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at Sioux City Relays on the same weekend. Selected Wayne State Male Freshman Athlete of the Year at WSC Athletic Honors Banquet.

2005 Indoor: Had outstanding meet at NSIC Indoor Championships, taking first in three events to earn NSIC All-Conference recognition. Individually, Matt won the one mile run (4:26.16) and the 5,000-meter run (15:43.89) and ran a leg on the first place distance medley relay team (10:31.24). Won the 3,000-meter run at the WSC Wildcat Open on 2-12-05 with time of 9:13.30.

Wayne State has earned the #3 seed for the NCAA Div. II Central Regional Baseball Tournament hosted by Emporia State in Kansas. The 40-11 Wildcats meet #4 seed Central Missouri (41-15) in Thursday's first round with game times to be announced Monday afternoon.


Concordia-St. Paul topped #15 Wayne State 10-6 Sunday afternoon in the NSIC Baseball Tournament championship game. The 40-11 Wildcats await word from the NCAA on a at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Official pairings are to be released Sunday evening by the NCAA.


Nate Preston won three events to lead the WSC men to a third straight NSIC outdoor track and field championship Saturday in Wayne. The Wildcats scored 164 points to nip second place Mary (156.5) for the team title. Brett Suckstorf won two events (hammer throw and discus) for WSC.


The WSC women's track and field team finished in third place with 106 points at the NSIC Championships in Wayne. Katie Wilson won two events (hammer throw and discus) and took second in the shot put to lead the Wildcats.


The NSIC Office announced Saturday that the NSIC Baseball Tournament has been shortened to a single-elimination tournament with Wayne State and Concordia-St. Paul (the last two undefeated teams in the tournament) playing Sunday at 1 p.m. in Wayne and the winner earning the NSIC Tournament Title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.


Nick Schumacher struck out a career-high 14 batters in a complete game win to lead #15 Wayne State to a 9-1 victory over Southwest Minnesota State at the NSIC Baseball Tournament in Wayne. The 40-10 Wildcats will play in the winner's bracket final Saturday at 10 a.m. against either Bemidji State or Concordia-St. Paul.


Seven WSC baseball players were named to the 2008 NSIC All-Conference Baseball Team announced Thursday afternoon. Nick Schumacher was named the NSIC Pitcher of the Year, Marc Manganaro earned the NSIC Co-Player of the Year while Nick Bidroski was selected the NSIC Co-Freshmen of the Year.
