2007 Indoor: Competed in three meets before underoing season-ending shoulder surgery...had NCAA provisional national qualifying marks in shot put and weight throw before injury...threw season-best 52'0" in shot put for fifth place finish at UNL Holiday Inn Invitational on 1-12-07 and won weight throw at season-opening Derek Miles Open at South Dakota on 12-7-06 with season-best throw of 51' 10 1/2"...also won shot put at Derek Miles Open with top mark of 45' 11 3/4".

2006 Outdoor: Placed second in the shot put (46' 3/4") and discus (142' 3") at the NSIC Championships in Wayne....topped her own school record in the shot put with throw of 46' 4 3/4" at the Howard Wood Relays on 5-5-06 to qualify for NCAA Division II National Meet for second straight season......finished 14th out of 18 competitors at the NCAA Div. II National Track and Field Championships on 5-26-06 with top throw of 44' 7"......named finalist for WSC Female Athlete of the Year......selected NSIC Women's Field Athlete of the Week on 4-5-06.....also selected to the NSIC All-Academic Team.

2006 Indoor: Finished fifth at the NCAA Division II National Indoor Championships with a throw of 47' 3/4" to earn All-American honors. Won the shot put with a school record throw of 48' 1 3/4" at the NSIC Indoor Championships to earn All-NSIC honors. Finished third in the weight throw (52' 1 1/4") at the NSIC Indoor Championships to earn All-NSIC honorable mention honors.

2005 Outdoor: NCAA National Qualifier in the shot put as a freshman, placing 19th with throw of 42' 8 3/4". Won NSIC championship in the shot put (43' 1 1/2") and was second in the discus (144'7") to earn All-NSIC honors in both events. Named NSIC Female Field Athlete of the Year with two others. Set all-time NSIC record in the shot put (45' 11 1/2"), and a new WSC school record, at the Nebraska Wesleyan meet on 5-2-05.

2005 Indoor: NCAA National Qualifier in the shot put, placing 14th at 43' 9 1/4". Won the NSIC Indoor shot put championship with throw of 44' 5 3/4". Also placed sixth at the NSIC meet in the weight throw (47' 5"). Set new WSC school record in shot put with mark of 45' 2", winning the WSC Wildcat Open on 2-12-05. First-ever collegiate event, threw 43' 8 3/4" to reach national provisional qualifying mark. Broke her own school record four times during season. Also held record in weight throw until bettered by teammate Lindsey Stockwell.

Wayne State has earned the #3 seed for the NCAA Div. II Central Regional Baseball Tournament hosted by Emporia State in Kansas. The 40-11 Wildcats meet #4 seed Central Missouri (41-15) in Thursday's first round with game times to be announced Monday afternoon.


Concordia-St. Paul topped #15 Wayne State 10-6 Sunday afternoon in the NSIC Baseball Tournament championship game. The 40-11 Wildcats await word from the NCAA on a at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Official pairings are to be released Sunday evening by the NCAA.


Nate Preston won three events to lead the WSC men to a third straight NSIC outdoor track and field championship Saturday in Wayne. The Wildcats scored 164 points to nip second place Mary (156.5) for the team title. Brett Suckstorf won two events (hammer throw and discus) for WSC.


The WSC women's track and field team finished in third place with 106 points at the NSIC Championships in Wayne. Katie Wilson won two events (hammer throw and discus) and took second in the shot put to lead the Wildcats.


The NSIC Office announced Saturday that the NSIC Baseball Tournament has been shortened to a single-elimination tournament with Wayne State and Concordia-St. Paul (the last two undefeated teams in the tournament) playing Sunday at 1 p.m. in Wayne and the winner earning the NSIC Tournament Title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.


Nick Schumacher struck out a career-high 14 batters in a complete game win to lead #15 Wayne State to a 9-1 victory over Southwest Minnesota State at the NSIC Baseball Tournament in Wayne. The 40-10 Wildcats will play in the winner's bracket final Saturday at 10 a.m. against either Bemidji State or Concordia-St. Paul.


Seven WSC baseball players were named to the 2008 NSIC All-Conference Baseball Team announced Thursday afternoon. Nick Schumacher was named the NSIC Pitcher of the Year, Marc Manganaro earned the NSIC Co-Player of the Year while Nick Bidroski was selected the NSIC Co-Freshmen of the Year.
