His duties include scheduling athletic contests and practices, home game management and serving as the athletic and recreational facilities' coordinator. Barry was the Wayne State women's basketball head coach for seven seasons. He compiled a 97-92 record, which is second all-time on the school's career victory list. His best team was the 1993-94 squad which posted a 22-5 record. Barry came to Wayne State following two years as an assistant women's basketball coach at Pratt Community College in Kansas. He also coached at Chadron State, Eastern New Mexico University, and Fullerton and Stuart high schools in Nebraska. Barry, a native of Grant, was a four-sport athlete at Chadron State. He was a three-time NAIA national qualifier in the triple jump, and also lettered in basketball, football, and cross country. Barry earned his bachelor's degree in physical education from Chadron State in 1983 and earned is master's degree in secondary education from Chadron State in 1988. Mike and his wife, Jeannette, have two children: Jordan (15) and Jalen (12), and they reside in Wayne, Neb.

Concordia-St. Paul topped #15 Wayne State 10-6 Sunday afternoon in the NSIC Baseball Tournament championship game. The 40-11 Wildcats await word from the NCAA on a at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Official pairings are to be released Sunday evening by the NCAA.
Nate Preston won three events to lead the WSC men to a third straight NSIC outdoor track and field championship Saturday in Wayne. The Wildcats scored 164 points to nip second place Mary (156.5) for the team title. Brett Suckstorf won two events (hammer throw and discus) for WSC.
The WSC women's track and field team finished in third place with 106 points at the NSIC Championships in Wayne. Katie Wilson won two events (hammer throw and discus) and took second in the shot put to lead the Wildcats.
The NSIC Office announced Saturday that the NSIC Baseball Tournament has been shortened to a single-elimination tournament with Wayne State and Concordia-St. Paul (the last two undefeated teams in the tournament) playing Sunday at 1 p.m. in Wayne and the winner earning the NSIC Tournament Title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Nick Schumacher struck out a career-high 14 batters in a complete game win to lead #15 Wayne State to a 9-1 victory over Southwest Minnesota State at the NSIC Baseball Tournament in Wayne. The 40-10 Wildcats will play in the winner's bracket final Saturday at 10 a.m. against either Bemidji State or Concordia-St. Paul.
Seven WSC baseball players were named to the 2008 NSIC All-Conference Baseball Team announced Thursday afternoon. Nick Schumacher was named the NSIC Pitcher of the Year, Marc Manganaro earned the NSIC Co-Player of the Year while Nick Bidroski was selected the NSIC Co-Freshmen of the Year.
