2007: Ranked third on the team in batting with .301 average while starting all 50 games at shortstop...finished second on the team in at bats (163) and third in hits (49) and home runs (6) as a true freshman...had 21 RBI's and finished third in total bases (71) and slugging percentage (.436)...her 8-game hit streak ranked third longest on the team...had 14 multiple hit games including three 3-hit games...went 3 for 3 with a homer, two stolen bases and two RBI's vs. South Dakota on 3-21-07...named NSIC Player of the Week on 3-26-07 after going 9 for 13 in four games with two homers, five RBI and four runs scored vs. South Dakota and Mount Marty.

High School: Attended Thomas Jefferson HS where she lettered in softball (5 years), soccer (4 years), basketball (4 years) and cross country (2 years). . . also plays soccer for WSC in the fall. . . Member of the All-City First Team in 2003, 2004 and 2005. . . team captain for two seasons and holds the school record for runs scored in a single season with 24 in 2004.

Former WSC pitcher Nick Schumacher was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 28th round Friday afternoon in the 2008 MLB First-Year Player Draft. The Nebraska City native was the 855th overall pick and it marks the second straight year a WSC pitcher was taken in the MLB Draft.


The WSC baseball team was ranked 24th in the final NCAA Division II Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top 30 Coaches Poll released on June 2. The 40-13 Wildcats won the NSIC regular season title for a fifth straight season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth consecutive year and sixth time in the last eight years.


Wayne State's Nick Schumacher was selected to a pair of All-American Teams Tuesday afternoon, earning First Team honors from Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association and Third Team All-American honors from Daktronics and voted on by sports information directors across the country. Schumacher posted a 13-2 record this season with a 2.36 ERA to earn 2008 NSIC Pitcher of the Year honors.
