Spring 2007: Posted top scoring average during 2007 spring season at 80.5...shot 79 at Northwestern Invite on 4-19-07 and 82 at South Dakota Invite on 4-2-07.

Fall 2006: Had stellar freshman season for the Wildcats with second-best scoring average on the team at 80.4....shot season-best 76 twice, at the Wildcat Fall Classic in Wayne on Sept. 15 to finish fifth and again in the first round of the NCAA Central Fall Regional on Sept. 29, 2006.

High School: Graduate of Douglas County West High School in Valley.....four-year letter winner in golf, helping team to four straight conference titles....shot course record 64 at Pines Country Club in Valley.

Personal: Son of Scott and Robin Olson of Valley, Nebraska....born on March 16, 1988.....majoring in business at WSC....hobbies include golf and water sports.....career goal is to become golf course manager.

Former WSC pitcher Nick Schumacher was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 28th round Friday afternoon in the 2008 MLB First-Year Player Draft. The Nebraska City native was the 855th overall pick and it marks the second straight year a WSC pitcher was taken in the MLB Draft.

The WSC baseball team was ranked 24th in the final NCAA Division II Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top 30 Coaches Poll released on June 2. The 40-13 Wildcats won the NSIC regular season title for a fifth straight season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth consecutive year and sixth time in the last eight years.

Wayne State's Nick Schumacher was selected to a pair of All-American Teams Tuesday afternoon, earning First Team honors from Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association and Third Team All-American honors from Daktronics and voted on by sports information directors across the country. Schumacher posted a 13-2 record this season with a 2.36 ERA to earn 2008 NSIC Pitcher of the Year honors.
