2006-07: Named Third Team All-NSIC after averaging career-highs of 12.2 points and 7.4 rebounds per game...one of four players to start and play in all 28 games...named NSIC Player of the Week and Nebraska NCAA Division II Player of the Week on 2-26-07 after averaging 21 points and 10 rebounds in two games...matched career-high of 25 points with career-high 17 rebounds in 80-72 loss to Concordia-St. Paul on 2-23-07...also scored 25 points at Univ. of Mary on 12-9-06...had six double-doubles to rank second in the NSIC...led NSIC in field goal percentage (.662) and offensive rebounds (2.93) while ranking second in rebounds (7.4) and fourth in defensive rebounds (4.50)...Selected to the NSIC All-Academic Team for second straight season and was named winner of the Wildcat Inspiration Award at year-end WSC Athletics Honor Banquet on 5-1-07.

2005-06: Had stellar sophomore season with Wildcats, averaging 8.4 points and 3.9 rebounds in 24 games with 23 starts. Scored career-high 18 points in 65-59 win over Bemidji State on 2-10-06. Grabbed career-high seven rebounds in four different games. Shot 54.3 percent from the field (70 of 129) and 68.1 percent from the free throw line (62 of 91). Selected to the NSIC Winter All-Academic Team.

2004-05: Played in seven games as redshirt freshman.....had three points and two rebounds......played five minutes vs. Minn.-Crookston on 1-22-05 and scored two points.

2003-04: Redshirted

HIGH SCHOOL: A graduate of Benton Community High School. Averaged 17 points, 10 rebounds, and shot 64% from the field. Was an all-conference and all-state selection as a senior.

PERSONAL: Son of Jeff and Tammy Rathje. . . Born on August 26, 1984. . . Majoring in Criminal Justice.

Wayne State has earned the #3 seed for the NCAA Div. II Central Regional Baseball Tournament hosted by Emporia State in Kansas. The 40-11 Wildcats meet #4 seed Central Missouri (41-15) in Thursday's first round with game times to be announced Monday afternoon.


Concordia-St. Paul topped #15 Wayne State 10-6 Sunday afternoon in the NSIC Baseball Tournament championship game. The 40-11 Wildcats await word from the NCAA on a at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Official pairings are to be released Sunday evening by the NCAA.


Nate Preston won three events to lead the WSC men to a third straight NSIC outdoor track and field championship Saturday in Wayne. The Wildcats scored 164 points to nip second place Mary (156.5) for the team title. Brett Suckstorf won two events (hammer throw and discus) for WSC.


The WSC women's track and field team finished in third place with 106 points at the NSIC Championships in Wayne. Katie Wilson won two events (hammer throw and discus) and took second in the shot put to lead the Wildcats.


The NSIC Office announced Saturday that the NSIC Baseball Tournament has been shortened to a single-elimination tournament with Wayne State and Concordia-St. Paul (the last two undefeated teams in the tournament) playing Sunday at 1 p.m. in Wayne and the winner earning the NSIC Tournament Title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.


Nick Schumacher struck out a career-high 14 batters in a complete game win to lead #15 Wayne State to a 9-1 victory over Southwest Minnesota State at the NSIC Baseball Tournament in Wayne. The 40-10 Wildcats will play in the winner's bracket final Saturday at 10 a.m. against either Bemidji State or Concordia-St. Paul.


Seven WSC baseball players were named to the 2008 NSIC All-Conference Baseball Team announced Thursday afternoon. Nick Schumacher was named the NSIC Pitcher of the Year, Marc Manganaro earned the NSIC Co-Player of the Year while Nick Bidroski was selected the NSIC Co-Freshmen of the Year.
