2006-07: Named Second Team All-NSIC in leading Wayne State in scoring at 14.3 points per game....started and played in all 28 games for WSC...ranked first in NSIC in three point field goals made per game (3.54), 8th in three point field goal percentage (.423) and 9th in scoring (14.3)...scored season-high 29 points, making nine three pointers in 91-88 OT win at MSU Moorhead on 1-19-07...had eight games of 20 or more points...named Nebraska NCAA Division II Player of the Week on 2-12-07 after averaging 20 points and four rebounds a game against Upper Iowa and Winona State...99 made three pointers was second most in a single season by Wildcat player...now has 183 career three pointers, tied for fourth in school history.

2005-06: Played in all 25 games with 24 starts, averaging 11.2 points per game. Second leading scorer for Wildcats. Sank team-high 66 three pointers, shooting 40.0 percent from the three point line. Drained 10 three pointers and scored career-high 32 points in 78-77 loss at St. Cloud State on 1-2-06. Was 10 of 13 from the field and 10 of 12 from three point line vs. SCSU. Named NSIC Player of the Week on 1-3-06 and Nebraska NCAA Division II Player of the Week on 2-13-06. Ranked 14th in NSIC in scoring (11.2), ninth in three point FG percentage (.400) and second in three point FG per game (2.64).

2004-05: Played in 24 games, averaging 3.2 points and 0.8 rebounds per game. Scored season-high 17 points vs. Minn.-Crookston on 1-22-05. Also scored 10 points at Augustana on 12-4-04. Had season-high four assists vs. Minn.-Crookston on 1-22-05.

2003-04: Sat out with a redshirt last season.

HIGH SCHOOL: A graduate of Davenport North High School. Averaged 15.1 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. He shot 44% from the field. Led Davenport North to the Class 4A State tournament as a senior.

PERSONAL: Son of Ramona and Larry Smith. . . Born on August 3, 1985. . . Major is undecided.

Wayne State has earned the #3 seed for the NCAA Div. II Central Regional Baseball Tournament hosted by Emporia State in Kansas. The 40-11 Wildcats meet #4 seed Central Missouri (41-15) in Thursday's first round with game times to be announced Monday afternoon.


Concordia-St. Paul topped #15 Wayne State 10-6 Sunday afternoon in the NSIC Baseball Tournament championship game. The 40-11 Wildcats await word from the NCAA on a at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Official pairings are to be released Sunday evening by the NCAA.


Nate Preston won three events to lead the WSC men to a third straight NSIC outdoor track and field championship Saturday in Wayne. The Wildcats scored 164 points to nip second place Mary (156.5) for the team title. Brett Suckstorf won two events (hammer throw and discus) for WSC.


The WSC women's track and field team finished in third place with 106 points at the NSIC Championships in Wayne. Katie Wilson won two events (hammer throw and discus) and took second in the shot put to lead the Wildcats.


The NSIC Office announced Saturday that the NSIC Baseball Tournament has been shortened to a single-elimination tournament with Wayne State and Concordia-St. Paul (the last two undefeated teams in the tournament) playing Sunday at 1 p.m. in Wayne and the winner earning the NSIC Tournament Title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.


Nick Schumacher struck out a career-high 14 batters in a complete game win to lead #15 Wayne State to a 9-1 victory over Southwest Minnesota State at the NSIC Baseball Tournament in Wayne. The 40-10 Wildcats will play in the winner's bracket final Saturday at 10 a.m. against either Bemidji State or Concordia-St. Paul.


Seven WSC baseball players were named to the 2008 NSIC All-Conference Baseball Team announced Thursday afternoon. Nick Schumacher was named the NSIC Pitcher of the Year, Marc Manganaro earned the NSIC Co-Player of the Year while Nick Bidroski was selected the NSIC Co-Freshmen of the Year.
