Shelle Tomaszkiewicz-Lau
Shelle Tomaszkiewicz Lau was a four-sport standout at Wayne State College from 1983-88. She lettered four years in softball, three in volleyball and basketball and one in track. Shelle's best sport was softball, where she was a two-time All-American and holds several school records yet today. The native of Omaha (Millard South High School) earned First Team All-American honors in 1986 after hitting .400 with 35 RBI's and an .807 slugging percentage (fourth best in the nation) as the Wildcats compiled a 32-14 record and a 14th-place ranking in the final NAIA poll in 1986.
The leftfielder had 11 triples and 11 home runs during the 1986 season, still single season school records today. She also holds the career school records with 19 career triples and 19 career home runs. Tomaszkiewicz also earned All-District and All-Conference honors her sophomore and junior years at Wayne State. She also earned All-Conference and All-District honors in volleyball in 1988 and was an All-Conference performer while quaifying for the NAIA National Track Meet in 1988.
Tomaszkiewicz Lau was inducted into the WSC Athletics Hall of Fame October 17, 1981.

Concordia-St. Paul topped #15 Wayne State 10-6 Sunday afternoon in the NSIC Baseball Tournament championship game. The 40-11 Wildcats await word from the NCAA on a at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Official pairings are to be released Sunday evening by the NCAA.
Nate Preston won three events to lead the WSC men to a third straight NSIC outdoor track and field championship Saturday in Wayne. The Wildcats scored 164 points to nip second place Mary (156.5) for the team title. Brett Suckstorf won two events (hammer throw and discus) for WSC.
The WSC women's track and field team finished in third place with 106 points at the NSIC Championships in Wayne. Katie Wilson won two events (hammer throw and discus) and took second in the shot put to lead the Wildcats.
The NSIC Office announced Saturday that the NSIC Baseball Tournament has been shortened to a single-elimination tournament with Wayne State and Concordia-St. Paul (the last two undefeated teams in the tournament) playing Sunday at 1 p.m. in Wayne and the winner earning the NSIC Tournament Title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Nick Schumacher struck out a career-high 14 batters in a complete game win to lead #15 Wayne State to a 9-1 victory over Southwest Minnesota State at the NSIC Baseball Tournament in Wayne. The 40-10 Wildcats will play in the winner's bracket final Saturday at 10 a.m. against either Bemidji State or Concordia-St. Paul.
Seven WSC baseball players were named to the 2008 NSIC All-Conference Baseball Team announced Thursday afternoon. Nick Schumacher was named the NSIC Pitcher of the Year, Marc Manganaro earned the NSIC Co-Player of the Year while Nick Bidroski was selected the NSIC Co-Freshmen of the Year.
